You might have noticed them on the previous pictures: the penitents wear some strange hoods that look a lot like KKK hoods (but with more colors).

We checked out the history behind this hood. Of course, it’s got nothing to do with the KKK. It’s supposed to look like the donkey hat children used to wear at school when they had behaved badly.

That way, penitents show how bad they feel for all the bad things they have done all year long.
