- Monday morning.
It’s raining. All day long, heavy rain. It’s not an usual thing for June in Paris.
- Tuesday morning.
The rain hasn’t stopped. The river level is getting higher.
- Wednesday
The rain stops and starts again… funny weather for June…
All the medias show towns situated before Paris along the rivers drowning. They publish some very impressive pictures.
Co workers who live around there are running back home to get their cars and precious stuff out of the undergrounds.
The rivers and specially the Seine are getting higher. Cars can no longer drive on the speedways along the rivers for those ways are underwater.
Are we going to experience some sort of water world?
- Thursday
The train company suggest that people shouldn’t come to Paris area because of the flooding plus strike situation. Yeah, I forgot to mention the strikes. France has been experiencing some big strikes for a couple of weeks.
On my way to work, I can see the river boats on the same level as the cars… that’s quite weird. We discover some of those boats are much higher than what we expected.
- Friday
There’s almost no more rain. Just heavy clouds. This is supposed to be the day of the pic. The maximum of the Seine for this flood… Around 6 meters high. Last time it went this high, I wasn’t even borne.
- Saturday
Weather is getting better. Sure, with all the humidity, heavy clouds are still around with rain once in a while. But it still better than what we experienced during the week. So everybody goes walking around the Seine. And with no peers to walk along the Seine, everyone is walking on the same streets and watching the impressively large river.
Riverboats can no longer move along the river. Only small boats can go under the bridges.
Somehow, all this water makes things more peaceful…
Is it a demonstration of power from Nature?
Anyway, it’s a good time to reflect : sometimes, you can’t do anything against Nature… that’s life. And somehow, that’s a good lesson.
