Oh famous tower !
If you’ve ever watched movies or series about the Tudors for instance, you’ve surely heard about that famous tower. A tower where they keep crows around to ensure the survival of the monarchy (why not ?).
The first impression when you intend to visit this tower is the architectural contrast between this centuries old tower and the nearby City of London. This sort of contrast is almost impossible in Paris where we keep a 500 meters perimeter of protection around historical monuments.
I was already amazed by that kind of contrast when I went to visit Warsaw a couple of years back. I’ve always been amazed by the English name of this town: War-saw…

Anyway, an other thing can strike you when going to the tower of London : it’s not just a tower, it’s some sort of full castle you’re going to visit with it’s strange guards, the Yeomen Warders, always happy to give you a guided tour around full of anecdotes about the castle’s history.

This castle is still strangely alive, out of time… with the Yeomen’s houses day to day life and the Jewel House Wardens parading around the door of a small (but famous) part of of the Tower : the place where you can see the display of the Crown Jewels.

You almost expect Tintin coming around.
Last but not least, from the Tower of London, you can see… the Tower Bridge (towers again… not much wonder why they chose to build their other newer towers in this neighborhood – the City).

So, if you had a doubt, it’s totally worth visiting this part of the city.
