After the trek, after the earthquake, during all those aftershocks, what do you do?
First of all, you look for safety: a good and nice guesthouse from where you can easily run to the lake, just in case… and you discuss emergency procedures, just in case again : if a big aftershock strikes during the night, how can we quickly reach our valuables and run out? What do we need? And if anything happens to me, what can you do, dear Anna? And what can I do if anything was to happen to you?
It feels like a catastrophe movie… well, it’s not so far from one…

But hey, second (and most important) thing: stay positive! Stay aware but stay positive, even when the people next table at the restaurant predict an even worse earthquake in the week to come (and they weren’t so wrong), even when your family and good friends fear so badly for you they just want you to walk down to India… hum… interesting suggestion but I believe I’m safe here in Pokhara with Anna and if we wait a week before we go to Katmandu to catch the plane we were supposed to catch, everything should be ok.
That brings us to the 3rd point : reinsure your relatives. Every single day, keep them in touch with a positive email so they won’t get worried for nothing, get them on the phone or on FaceTime or on any sort of chat. Somehow, stay strong for the sake of them.
And then, 4th point, search how you can make the best of those 6 last days in this city. Do the best to help the Nepalese : give away whatever you can, ask if you can help with anything and when you can’t volunteer anymore, keep tourism alive, buy gifts for your relatives and listen to whatever the Nepalese around you need to talk about. And enjoy every time you cross someone you know from before the earthquake, that person made it, it’s so wonderful! And listen to their story of the earthquake. Every story is so different!

For my last articles about this world tour (because this tour comes to an end… for a better new beginning of course), I will try to share the good moments we managed to have in those difficult times.
