A whole new world

Singapore is not only different from Hawaii or New Zealand, this country/city is different from anything you’ve ever

seen. It’s a whole new world, not just because it’s a mixt of Asian and occidental cultures, Hong Kong is also issued from that sort of mixt and it doesn’t feel like a new world.

Singapore is literally a new world : this country is only 50 years old, it was conceived to avoid the mistakes usually made in the conception of older big cities.

Singapore is a sort of modern Utopia where the government studied carefully each and every urbanism issue and applied some quite effective solutions. In this city, you feel quite confortable living : they mixed habitations, social and working areas, they separated big industries…

Nowhere in the city you feel like you’re just an other ant amongst huge buildings : they mix tall buildings with small house so you can easily see the sky if you want.

The urbanism museum explains all of that quite well. It almost feels like the government played Sing City to create their country. They even offer you to do it yourself.

Since this country is quite new and wealthy, they have the opportunity to apply whole new big size technologies. The most re-known example of which is the MBS (Marina Bay Sands) hotel, you know, this 3 towers hotel with a boat on the top, the one with the swimming pool that oversee the whole town. This one

An other less re-known but more ecologically interesting example is the OCBC forest. At the foot of the MBS you’ll find those huge Avatar-like “trees” conceived to collect rain-water.

Doesn't it feels like a SF movie ?

But Singapore is not just about new buildings and new technologies. Depending on what you’re looking for, you can find really different areas in this city from the lively Little india to the Disney looking occidental afterwork area all the way through huge shopping malls, gardens, golfs etc.
